How much does a deposition room cost in Philadelphia?

Updated · 3 min read · By the Depo Pros team

Depo Pros has three buildings in Center City Philadelphia. A standard deposition room is $125 an hour, $450 for a half day or $850 for a full day; the Large Deposition Room at 1521 Locust is $150, $550 or $1,050. Here is what typical Philadelphia bookings come to, and what else to plan for.

Picking the right room saves the most

The biggest lever is room size. A standard room seats up to 8, which covers most two-party depositions: the witness, the reporter, defending and examining counsel and a few more. Book the Large Deposition Room at 1521 Locust when you have more than 8 people, a videographer with lights, or a mediation joint session; it costs $25 an hour more than the standard room.

Location within Center City is the other choice. 121 S. Broad is steps from City Hall, where civil courtrooms of the Court of Common Pleas sit. 1521 Locust and 1435 Walnut are near Rittenhouse Square. See deposition rooms in Center City for a building-by-building comparison.

Booking from out of town

If you are coming in from out of town, a few things make the day easier:

  • Book online at any hour; the calendar and your confirmation show Eastern time, the building's local time.
  • Ship exhibits ahead to the location: package receiving is $1 per envelope or package (a USPS Form 1583 is required once before we can accept mail addressed to you).
  • Need a document witnessed while you are there? A witness signature is $20. Service-of-process acceptance in Pennsylvania is $20. See extra services.
  • Forward the arrival and access instructions to your local reporter and the witness as soon as you have them.

Other costs to plan for

  • Court reporter. Reporters set their own rates, which vary by market and turnaround. The typical standard-delivery range we publish is $4.00 – $7.00 per page, and rush delivery adds +50% – 90% for 3–5 business days. Ask your reporter for a quote; we can refer an independent Philadelphia reporter.
  • Videographer, if you need a video record, quoted directly.
  • Interpreter, if needed.
  • Parking or transit. Parking is set by each building or nearby garage; 121 S. Broad is steps from the City Hall subway station.

Cancellations

Cancel at least 24 hours before the start for a full refund. Later cancellations are credited toward a future booking within 12 months, which helps when a deposition is postponed rather than cancelled. Your reporter's cancellation terms are separate.

How the rates combine

Every booking is priced three ways and you pay the lowest: hourly, the half-day rate plus extra hours, or the full-day rate. In the Large Deposition Room at 1521 Locust, three hours is $450, five hours is $700 (half day plus an hour) and seven hours is $1,000. In a standard room the same lengths are $375, $575 and $825.

So there is no need to guess which package to buy. Book the time you expect the deposition to take, with a little margin for breaks, and the price takes care of itself. If you finish early, you have not overpaid for a day you did not need; if you book a long day, the full-day rate caps it.

Paying and paperwork

Bookings are paid by card at checkout and confirmed the moment the payment goes through; your confirmation email carries a calendar invite and directions. Room bookings and extra services are charged by Same Day LLC, the operating company behind Depo Pros. Court reporters, videographers and interpreters quote and bill you directly, so you will have separate invoices for those.
